Workshop: Introduction to Film Photography

Workshop: Introduction to Film Photography

A one-to-one introduction to analogue photography for beginners. It works even if you’ve never taken photos before.

For people just starting out with film: if you want to try shooting on a film camera, get to grips with settings and exposure, and see how the darkroom works.

You leave with the roll you shot, digital scans and a print you made yourself.

Together we shoot a roll of black-and-white film, develop it, scan the frames and make your first hand print.

Two days, from the first frame to a print made with your own hands.

Day one, ~6 hours

  1. Talk: analogue photography, types of film and cameras, ways of shooting, exposure, camera settings and so on
  2. Shooting a model with studio lighting: you learn to meter exposure, set up the camera and take the pictures
  3. Developing the film in the darkroom, with guidance and detailed explanations

Day two, ~3 hours

  1. Scanning: making digital versions of your frames
  2. Printing: together, under the red light, we make a print, so you see the whole process from exposing the frame to the image appearing on the paper

We provide everything you need and guide you at every step.
