Polaroid SX-70 birthday and opening of Polaroids

Andy Warhol, Helmut Newton, David Hockney and Nobuyoshi Araki all shot on the Polaroid SX-70. Despite its age, it is still the only instant camera considered a professional tool.

Polaroids are part of the body of work of many key artists of the last century: actors, painters and photographers photographed themselves and the life around them. Today more and more artists are returning to instant photography or starting with it.

On the camera’s birthday we open the group exhibition Polaroids, with work by 15 artists from different Ukrainian cities. Different viewpoints, ideas and techniques add up to a cross-section of Ukrainian instant photography today: who shoots Polaroid now, how and why.

There will be music, wine and books. The event is part of Lviv Gallery Weekend.
