Sometimes a photograph becomes more than a document: a way to keep something that might disappear.

In 1970s New York, when the city declared war on graffiti, Martha Cooper began recording what existed outside official culture. Things that were not meant to be seen, but that shaped a whole generation.

Join us for a screening of Martha: A Picture Story, a documentary about Martha Cooper, who made some of the first visual records of graffiti culture.

Over the years her archive became more than documentation: an important part of the global street art movement.

It is a film about observation and trust. About being present in a world that does not open up right away. And about how photography can influence a culture while staying in its shadow.

After the film we will have a chance to talk a little about what we saw.

The film is in English with Ukrainian subtitles.
