We invite you to the seventh meeting of the club, this time we will read "Ways of Seeing" by John Berger.
This is a small essayistic book in which the author explores the connection between a person and their everyday objects.
Berger himself described "In the Pocket" (2001) as very personal and written with a sense of urgent need. With his characteristic attention and critical perspective, Berger writes about the works of Bosch, Rembrandt, Degas, Kahlo, the Fayum portrait, and cave paintings, through which he finds forms of reflection on the suffocation of the present, economic inequality, and the claustrophobia of a globalized world.
At the meeting, we will discuss our questions, so we encourage active reading: take notes and bring them with you.
The event will be moderated by Yulia Reivakh @j.reivakh — a photographer and co-founder of the space.
