Lecture: Polaroid in fashion photography

Lecture: Polaroid in fashion photography

Thursday, July 10, 2025
19:00

In the fashion industry, Polaroid is a fully fledged professional tool. Helmut Newton, Sarah Moon and Guy Bourdin used it, and today so do Donna Trope, Ezra Petronio and Steven Klein. Their Polaroid work has appeared in Vogue, The Face, Another Magazine and Numéro.

We will talk about:

  • how Polaroid became part of professional fashion work
  • who shot on it and what that work looked like
  • how Polaroid pictures became artefacts
  • how fashion photographers can use Polaroid today

The lecture is given by Oleksandr Hor, co-founder of the space and a photographer who shoots Polaroid himself. It is for anyone interested in the history of photography and for photographers who work, or want to work, in fashion.

The lecture is part of the Polaroids exhibition.
