Lithuanian photographer Aleksandra Jacovskytė uses street photography to observe the city. The exhibition shows portraits of passers-by and scenes from the lives of Vilnius residents in the 1960s: what the city was like then, what its people were like, and their everyday life.
I was ten when my father unexpectedly bought me a Smena camera and gave me a few basic instructions. From then on, photography gradually became a natural and inseparable part of my life.
Her first book, Vilnius Faces, came out in 2014 after an exhibition at the Titanikas gallery in Vilnius. After that, people began to recognise her in the street and thank her for pictures in which they recognised the Vilnius of their youth.
