Vilnius Faces. Aleksandra Jacovskytė

An exhibition by Lithuanian photographer Aleksandra Jacovskytė, part of the Vilnius Days in Lviv. For her, street photography is a way of observing the city: portraits of passers-by and scenes from the lives of Vilnius residents in the 1960s, a personal view of the city and the rhythm of its everyday life.

The Vilnius in these pictures no longer exists. But this is the image of the city I still keep in my memory.

Her book Vilnius Faces, a collection of black-and-white portraits taken in Vilnius between 1964 and 1993, is in the gallery library.
